Connecticut Dermatology Group’s point of view and policy is that skin biopsies should only be read by a dermatologist with advanced training and certification in pathology — not by a general pathologist.
Our pathologist's sole focus is to examine skin biopsies and surgical specimens to make diagnoses and to determine the adequacy of excision when appropriate.
As an integral part of the practice, the pathologist communicates closely with other staff dermatologists to correlate clinical and pathological findings in order to arrive at accurate diagnoses. This information and close collaboration enables our dermatologists to formulate the most effective treatment plans.
