Skin Cancer

Skin Cancer

Of all types of cancer, skin cancer is the most common. Although older fair-skinned people have a greater risk of getting skin cancer, instances are on the rise among every age group and every ethnicity. Risk factors include sunburns, family history, exposure to x-rays, a weakened immune system, exposure to certain chemicals, thermal burns, indoor tanning beds and sunlamps increase the risk of skin cancer.

Types of Skin Cancer

Skin cancers differ significantly in appearance and degree of health threat. Types of skin cancer include:

  • basal cell carcinoma (BCC)
  • squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), this can be lethal if left untreated
  • melanoma, the deadliest of the three

At CDG, we believe the best way to identify potential skin cancers is to receive an annual full-body skin cancer screening with qualified medical professionals.

Photo-Dynamic Therapy (PDT): Our blue-light photodynamic therapy (PDT) offers excellent results in eradicating AKs with minimal discomfort.

Mohs Surgery: When surgery is indicated, our Mohs Surgery Skin Cancer Treatment Center offers the highest possible success rate of eradicating skin cancer (up to 98% cured). Patients who undergo this minimally invasive micrographic surgical procedure can leave our facility knowing that their skin cancer is gone.

Superficial Radiotherapy (SRT): A new non-invasive alternative to surgical procedures (Mohs). The treatment is highly effective, fast, and painless.
